Thank you

My life in Venezuela has been influenced by a lot of people, and I am really thankful for it. But there are a few people that I have to mention. Smithy, you have been the best friend I could ever wish for. I still remember the first day of school in 5th grade, where you came up to me smiling asking what my name was.  Nothing has changed since, and you really helped me through a lot. We’ve had fights (many) but that doesn’t matter because everything was perfect, is perfect and will always be. I can’t wait to travel with you and I am sure we will always be friends. Ale, you’ve been amazing! And I still remember the first day of high school where you helped me with anything, and whenever I was nervous you were there to calm me down. I’ll never forget you, and thank you for everything you gave me because I’ve learned so much from you which I wouldn’t trade for everything. Choni, you’re the best co-singer anyone could wish for! We were not so close last year, but I still feel like I’ve known you forever! You always understand me and you make me laugh until I can’t breathe. You guys are about the most amazing, funny, annoying and immature people I’ve ever met, and I hope we’ll always be together and I’ll never forget you guys.

Freshman 2014

Not so long ago, I though the worst feeling in the world was having to keep up with Davinsky’s mean comments. Or getting a 3 in M.Barga’s notecards even though you read two times. But just a few days ago, I noticed the hardest thing to do is look at your room and only see boxes. It hadn’t hit me I always leaving, but now that I am taking my clothes out of the closet, and shipping them to another country. Living in Venezuela has been a great experience, and I wouldn’t change one bit of it. Everyone in this school has made a significant change in my life and in me. I really have to thank my friends for everything they done and for always being there for me. I couldn’t have made it without them. One thing that I would never change is being in the 2014 class. We are truly the most unique freshman class ever, and our crazy idea and immature games have made me laugh every day. Our random pizza day, our cell phone stealing game and the usual twins parties have been the best memories I could ask for. I really wish the entire 2014 freshman group a great life, because they deserve it.  I love you guys, see you soon!

Blogs

As a class assignment, I have to write whether I found blogging an effective way of learning. Personally, I have two completely different views of it. I found it more interesting to write blogs, then to write an essay. You have more freedom in your posts and you can always put it your own twist. Even so, I think us student should have the opportunity to choose their project. Some people find it uncomfortable to publish their work in the internet where everyone can see it. Students should be given the option to do different works. They could write plays, essays, and maybe even an artistic painting. If the students choose to do a painting, they have to include a paragraph of why they did the painting and what inspired them. The good thing about blogging is that students practice their writing skills in an effective way. The only aspect of these assignments that I think should be changed is the number of words. The minimum words we can use are 200 words, which personally I think is nothing. 200 words is almost nothing and the students don’t take too long to write the blogs. Even so I think that the blogs was an assignment that I enjoyed writing and at the same time it wasn’t a difficult task.

Argentina, Buenos Aires

As I have mentioned before, I am moving to Argentina. For spring break I went to Argentina to look for houses and schools. Unfortunately, the international school there is closed and I didn’t have a chance to see it. I was surprised with how advanced Buenos Aires is. The buildings and parks are all based in European architecture. Since I spent most of the time looking for houses, I went to a part of the city where most of the tourists don’t go to; San Isidro. San Isidro is a beautiful area where many citizens live. There are around 15 schools in that area, therefor most kids walk to school. The downtown of Buenos Aires is my favorite part of this massive city. Other places, like Palermo are also very interesting. Palermo is an area where most tourist and locals go shopping. The area is full of stores; internationally known and original local stores. The hotel I stayed in was in this same area, and I found it a very lovely place to be in. I also went to a shopping mall there, but I found it much more interesting to walk around Palermo and shop. Argentina is a beautiful place and I recommend people to visit it whenever they have the opportunity.

Venezuela

Since I started to write this blog, I never noticed that I had not posted a blog post of Venezuela! Over all this country I live in recently, has beautiful beaches and special places. For example the archipelago Los Roques is a beautiful place where most tourists go to when they come to Venezuela. This paradise has transparent water and a small town where people usually walk around at night to eat at restaurants. To go to this island, you have to take a small air plane; this is its only disadvantage (but still worth it. Many people that come here also love to go to Margarita! This is a wonderful beach where many people (including tourists) go to spend their weekends. Even though these attractions are wonderful, I personally think that the Avila is the most beautiful of all three. The Avila is a chain ofmountains in Caracas, which goes around the whole city. People can go up the Avila both by car and by cable car. The view of the mountains is incredible, and most of the people enjoy this with a wonderful meal in any of the restaurants located in the mountain. Venezuela is not a popular tourist place, but should be because it is amazingly beautiful.

Leaving Venezuela

Many of you might have wondered why I would write about moving. And the obvious reason is that I am moving from Venezuela. I have been here for 5 years now, since 5th grade; it is crazy to leave everything behind. Even so, I am very anxious and excited about this change. One of my friends knows a girl that goes to the international school in Buenos Aires. She lived here before but left in 5th grade (ironic). I talked with her trough internet and she told be a little about how it is like to live in Buenos Aires. She told me both countries are completely different; place and people. She also said the school is great and all of the people there are welcoming (score!). The school I want to go to is the school she is currently in. Unbelievably, it is the only American school in the whole Buenos Aires. If I don’t get accepted to the international school, I might have to go to a British or a bilingual school. I am going there for Spring great, and I am incredibly exited! Right now, the climate there is very cold, so I had to go out with my mom to shop some winter cloth since here in Venezuela is so hot! I can’t wait till I go to Argentina, that way I can bring you guys news!

Moving

Being a new environment full of unknown characters leaves you no idea where to start. In addition to this torture, you miss your old friends which you don’t have connection with like you did before. After one week, you suddenly start feeling part of the school, because finally more people are talking to you. If any of you guys are foreigners in a country, you will be able to connect to this few sentences. If you have ever moved cities, schools, or countries you will know how horrible and terrifying this idea is. Even so, if the student has an open mind about the change; fitting in is not a problem. It is hard to leave behind a big part of your life, but starting a new one is not as bad as most people think. Starting fresh is always nice, and anyone can be a new person. Another advantage is that you get to meet many other people, but at the same time keep contact with your old friends! This is also a great time to learn about new cultures, which later on makes a big impact in how we think and how we judge. When most people are moving they don’t realize what a great opportunity, and how fun this is!

Africa

What takes up the second place in the bucket list? Africa, I know it sounds crazy but I think for us lovers of travelling we have to experience a little bit of everything: bad, good, luxury, simplicity, wild and modern. For me Africa is one of the most exotic places I could go. I would absolutely love to go to a safari and see all the animals. The truth is, it is not a usual experience and that’s what makes it special. This would be something I would keep for my whole life and I’m sure I would enjoy it more than anything!  It is for sure out of the ordinary but I feel this is the ultimate trip the one I will enjoy with my family. I have seen many pictures and heard many stories with complex details about how it is there, but I think this is a one in a life time opportunity and each one of us will have a different experience in the trip. I can’t wait to accomplish this dream. I’m really happy I had the opportunity to visit other countries but I am sure I would never forget this one and that I will be able to share my experiences with my children.

Cartagena, Bogota

Some of you might be wondering where my next trip is, yet some of you might not really care; I am going to Cartagena, Bogota. Once my parents told me we were going to go there I was extremely happy! One, because I’ve been to Bogota twice before and love it so I assumed this beach was even better! And three because my best friend lives there and I might have a chance to see her. The sad part is I won’t get to see her, but I still get to go! I am so excited because it’s been 2 month I don’t see my brother (he is in college) and we haven’t travelled together for a long time! My whole family is very happy too because we get to stay in two beautiful hotels. One is in the city of Cartagena which we will be staying for about 3 days, and the other one is near a group of island so it will be just a taste of heave. Not only am I exited for the beach and the snorkeling, but the food there is supposedly amazing. Many people that have gone there, say there is many things to do so I am looking forward to it! Carnival here I come!

Las Vegas

Luxor Hotel, My favorite

Bellagio
This might seem little crazy, but I think it is too; one of the things in my bucket list s to go to Las Vegas. Yes wild, but there is a reason behind this madness. Las Vegas is known for the shows, casinos and entertainment and! And as I mentioned to you guys before I love hotels, and Las Vegas has the most beautiful ones. The most famous of course are: the Paris Las Vegas Hotel which recreates a beautiful image of the wonderful Paris (as I talked to you guys before it is lovely), Luxor Las Vegas which is absolutely my favorite, and of course Bellagio with its grand water fountain show. When I get older, I plan to go with my friends to Las Vegas, and stay in each and every one of these hotels, because as we know the fun part about Vegas is the glamour! Then why not have it all right? I’m sure many of you have gone to Las Vegas and had a blast, I’m sure in some years I will be part of your group! So in a few years, Ill change these pictures for some I am in, and I will be proud to say I went to Vegas.

France

France, Lovely France! You might have heard, if not have witnessed the beauty of the Paris. The food, the museum and the monument are just lovely and amazing. The most famous attraction of Paris is of course the grand Eiffel Tour. Its lights and height of course enchants its visitors every season of the year. If you haven’t gone, I strongly recommend it! The strange thing about Paris is that people either hate it, or love it. In my opinion I don’t see what not to love! In the morning, you can walk to any nearby café because in the end they are all delicious! In my daily routine I went to one just in front of my hotel and asked for my favorite breakfast, a chocolate croissant. Then later on I would walk or take a taxi to any museum or attraction. Wherever you go in Paris, you will find it lovely simply just walking through the streets. One recommendation I will give to you readers out there, is having dinner in the Eiffel Tour restaurant. When I went, we were lucky enough to watch the sunshine. The food there is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. Anything thing you order from appetizers to desserts, I’m sure you will enjoy it.
